Yoda, Ed Percival. The master of Weird. #BeMoreYou #BeMoreWeird

Yesterday I wrote: “Don’t be bland if you want to be remembered”, moving from talking about “Blands” (vs “Brands”) to focussing on your Eulogy vs Resumé virtues. Later, I saw a tweet:

Indeed, and I replied: My late mentor #EdPercival used to say “where I come from weird is a high form of praise.” Don’t be bland.

Ed Percival has been the greatest mentor in my life so far (see this post). I also mused in another post on: “Ed Percival and his Cayman legacy”, and in that second post, I told my story of meeting Ed and the huge impression he made on me. Now another “Ed” story. When Ed started a workshop with a group, he used to introduce himself, and in that introduction say something along the lines of:

“Today some of the things I talk about and teach you may seem a little, some you may actually consider strange, and some you may even find weird. When that happens, tell me, as where I come from, “Weird” is a high form of praise”.

Ed was the opposite of bland, he was a force of nature. Everyone who met him remembers that. Ed passed away on June 25, 2015. At his…
